Remove the hidden weight

Clothing, books, and objects left in drawers add weight and can shift. Empty the piece completely, including jewelry drawers and hidden compartments.

Secure removable parts

Ask whether drawers should stay out for the carry. Detach mirrors only when the mounting method is understood, then protect the mirror edge and hardware.

Measure the difficult points

Check the dresser against the bedroom door, hallway, landing, and stairs. Flag weak legs, loose tops, cracked mirrors, or water damage before anyone moves the piece.
